2020 is a Call to Christians

Hello all! Sorry for not posting in a few weeks, but in light of everything going on, I've had to spend some time in prayer trying to process.

For 4 years I have been incredibly angry. Is it righteous anger, I really don't know. But I have been angry, angry at disunity, at racism, and white supremacy, at injustice, at lies and propaganda, angry at the president--at everything sowing division in our nation, I have been incredibly angry about.

This past Sunday, God used the sermon Pastor Tim Stutts preached at my church, Front Street Baptist, to knock me in the face with conviction. Pastor Tim talked about sowing seeds of grace versus sowing seeds of strife. I have been sowing seeds of strife for 4 years, in talk about politics, the president, and anything else on the hot seat in the US.

I've spent this week praying. I've felt convicted to share Jesus in all of this, but the words to say were lost on me. God's revealed little things to me everyday this week, and this is what He put on my heart this morning.

Christians, this is our wake up call.

There is massive injustice in our world right now, because our world is full of sin. Our world is absent of Jesus Christ. It is because of this that some are blinded by racism, some are blinded by ignorance, some are blinded by false teachings, some are blinded by pride, selfishness, arrogance--you name it, it is because of sin that we are suffering.

Jesus has called us to make Him known to the masses, Christians. Because of this sin, humans alone cannot solve this problem of racism and division. Only our God can.

The protests, the calling out injustice, the involvement of young people--this is awesome that people are able to see this sin and call it out. But as Christians, we must also PRAY through all of this. It is our most powerful weapon, my friends. We have an amazing, wide open opportunity to show the world who our Jesus is. That He is the God and King, who came to this earth as a brown Middle Eastern to rescue us from this sin.

That is our calling.

Sure, 2020 sucks. It sucks hard. But God is still sovereign. He is still in control admist all of this suffering and hurt, and He will use this for his glory. We must raise our voices in prayer to the most powerful God.

That is part of our protest, Christians. To identify injustice, call it out in love, and pray over it. We will not solve this problem without the King.

My prayer is that God will give us His eyes for a moment. That we will see His people and this injustice through His eyes. This song by Brandon Heath says what our prayer should be, friends. Pray that we will see the world as God does. That we will have the compassion and love of God to extend to others during this time who are hurting.

If you have any prayer requests, please let me know! I am happy to pray for you. I hope this helps, and that God can use you to be a voice of love in a time of chaos.

Pray that you will sow seeds of grace in a time of strife.

Thanks for reading, friends!

ABOUT LIGHT & SALT

The Great Commission in Matthew 28:18-20 calls us as believers to make disciples of all nations. But being a Christ-following teenager in this day and age isn't easy, as being known as the goody-two-shoes isn't typically the social status that everyone goes for. So we all need some encouragement, right? Teen to teen? That's what I hope this blog can be to you--something to give you godly insight and scripture to take into your day.
